 formation session\, hosted and facilitated by ACTC
 OSS provides an overview of the ACT budget and sup
 ports members to navigate and read key documents. 
 </p>\n \n <p>The session will cover a broad overvi
 ew of how public sector budgets work by stepping t
 hrough the politics of budget-making and the role 
 of key actors in creating it. This includes the di
 fferent roles and priorities of politicians and pu
 blic servants in crafting a budget. It will explor
 e how the budget is structured\, with some practic
 al advice for reading and understanding the differ
 ent documents that end up in the budget.</p>\n \n 
 <p><strong>About the facilitator:</strong> <br />\
 n Jacob Priergaard a social policy researcher who 
 joined ACTCOSS in June 2025. Jacob began his caree
 r in the Australian Public Service\, working on so
 cial security and then health policy before comple
 ting a PhD at ANU. His research looks at how publi
 c institutions\, including budgets\, shape policie
 s that impact disadvantaged people.</p>\n \n <p>Ja
 cob joined ACTCOSS as a generalist Senior Policy A
 dvisor and is leading ACTCOSS’ submissions to the 
 ACT budget.</p></body></html>
DESCRIPTION:This information session\, hosted and facilitated 
 by ACTCOSS provides an overview of the ACT budget 
 and supports members to navigate and read key docu
