Information Sessions: Understanding the ACT Human Rights Commission

ACTCOSS is hosting an online information session where Karen Toohey, Discrimination, Health Services, Disability and Community Services Commissioner will give an overview of the ACT Human Rights Commission functions and how it relates to the community sector.

The session will cover information on:  

• The Human Rights Act, how it can be used in the community sector & the proposed human rights complaint mechanism 

• The structure of the ACT Human Rights Commission.  

• The role of Discrimination, Health Services, Disability and Community Services Commissioner  

• The role of the Public Advocate  

• How to make a complaint
