Information session: What community sector workers need to know about Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) cards and registration

Learn all about WWVP cards, types and registration

Volunteering ACT (VACT) and representitives from Access Canberra Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Team will be co-facilitating an information session about all about WWVP cards and registration. 

Topics that will be included in Access Canberra’s presentation:

  1. WWVP registration requirements – who must be registered:

    • regulated activities,

    • incidental vs non-incidental contact,

    • exemptions.

  2. WWVP registration types.

  3. WWVP scheme as a part of the broader protective framework. Differences between WWVP registration and employment police check, employment suitability assessment, character check.

  4. WWVP scheme and Working with Children Checks from other States and Territories.

  5. WWVP application processing:

    • identity verification requirements,

    • importance of nominating all regulated activities/employers and updating this information - notifications from Access Canberra to employers about changes to application and registration status,

    • eligibility criteria to apply for a WWVP registration as a volunteer,

    • supervised employment with a pending application.

  6. WWVP registration verification process for employers.
