Introductory Grant Writing Workshop for the ACT Community Sector

Develop and build your skills to write successful grant applications. 

This practical one-day workshop for ACT community organisations will develop and build upon your skills to write successful grant applications. It will help you set up a framework and tools so that your organisation can be ready to apply for a grant efficiently and effectively. 

This workshop will cover: 

  • The community sector funding landscape and identifying funding opportunities 

  • The key points to writing successful grant applications including preparing workplans, budgets and risk management statements. 

  • How to demonstrate your organisation's capacity and capability to deliver the grant. 

  • Evaluation and reporting. 

You will also have the opportunity to hear directly from Hands Across Canberra and ACT Gov Community Services Directorate Grants team. Providing tips and advice to ensure you write a compelling submission.  

This workshop is designed for grant writers with minimal experience in writing grants for non-profit organisations. 

About the facilitator:  

A social worker by training, Ann Killen has had an extensive career in community service practice and management in the public, private and not for profit sectors across three states, as well as in international development. She has bid for, worked on and managed small and large-scale community development projects funded by state and federal governments, as well as by organisations such as UNICEF, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the British Government, the Danish Government, ActionAid and others in 17 countries. Ann has a passion for making the world a better and fairer place, and understands the importance of finding and securing funds to achieve this. As a former lecturer in community development and communications at the University of South Australia Ann has hands on teaching experience which she brings to this practical and interactive training.
