• Provide the most important information in the right order 

• Promote your important key messages 

• Create newsworthy quotes to give your release news value 

• Provide essential information concisely and accurately 

• Write a headline with ‘punch”. 

  

About the trainer: 

Jim Maher is a communications professional with extensive experience in newspaper, radio and television journalism. He was also senior media adviser to the Treasurer of NSW for four years and subsequently headed a government communications unit. 

As a public affairs consultant for over two decades, Jim has provided a wide variety of clients in the public, corporate and non-profit sectors with advice on communications and media relations skills
