Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! Join the Community sector NAIDOC Week event – 5 July

The ACT Council of Social Service (ACTCOSS) has been working with ACT’s Community Sector in bringing the Canberra Community Sector NAIDOC Week Event for 2022, celebrating the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The event will take place on Tuesday 5th of July between 10:45am – 2pm, in the Woden Town Square and Woden Library, with free public transport to Woden across the network between 10am – 3pm.
ACTCOSS Chief Executive Officer Dr Emma Campbell said: “This year’s theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!’, advocating for systemic change and solidarity.
“We all need to play a role in achieving meaningful consultation, collaboration and action on the issues that affect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the ACT.”
Head of the Gulanga Program, Rachelle Kelly-Church said: “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have the solutions to many of the systemic problems in justice, housing, child protection and health. We just need to be supported, trusted and resourced to make change happen.
“This means real investment in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.”
The eighth year of the community sector NAIDOC week event showcases Indigenous arts and crafts, live entertainment, free food and coffee and so much more, promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to all who attend.
