Submission – Future of Working Week

ACTCOSS made a submission to the ACT Government’s Inquiry into the future of the working week regarding the implications of a four-day working week for the community sector. Our input focused on the largely underfunded and under resourced community service providers and organisations requiring more appropriate funding levels to meet current demand, let alone reduce staff working hours. We also highlighted the challenges of worktime reduction for people with disabilities, as well as for carers. By running a funded trial of the four-day work week in the community service-delivery sector, the Government could produce improved wellbeing outcomes for the community while investigating the viability and effectiveness of changing the work week.
