In ACTCOSS’s submission for the 2020-21 ACT Budget, we outline fifty priorities.
Our submission calls for adequate resourcing of community-based, non-government delivered services and responses to meet community need and a changing Canberra.
It also seeks fulfillment of ACT Government promises plus community priorities set out in successive Budget submissions since the 2016 election.
These priorities for the 2020-21 Budget should include:
- Matching investments and ambitions for government service provision with prioritised attention and investments in community services including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander controlled services, disability, education, environment, family and children’s services, health, housing, homelessness, justice, mental health, transport, and women’s services
- Needs assessment work, community transport provision, community development resources, modern aged friendly community facilities in suburbs and green living infrastructure in urban centres matched with human, service and community-led responses including vibrant human services in neighbourhoods
- Delivery of the ACT Housing Strategy, especially community housing provision, and prioritisation of homelessness services
- Prioritisation of services with a strong focus on sub-acute, early intervention and prevention outcomes.
