Submission: Electronic Monitoring in the ACT

ACTCOSS has provided feedback in response to the ACT Government’s Electronic Monitoring (EM) Discussion Paper.

Given the tight feedback window and the high-demand period for community services, ACTCOSS, with the cooperation and participation of the Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS), convened a verbal feedback session on 31 January to gather timely insights.

This submission builds on those discussions, outlines ACTCOSS’s policy positions, and includes key points from some of our member organisations. We look forward to ongoing collaboration with the ACT Government, our member organisations, and the Justice Reform Group to ensure EM is implemented in a way that reduces incarceration rates in the ACT, ensures community and victim/survivor safety and addresses the social determinants of justice system involvement.
