Submission: Inquiry into EV Adoption

26 August 2022

ACTCOSS made a submission to the Standing Committee on Planning, Transport and City services inquiry into EV Adoption in the ACT. Our submission welcomed the ACT Government’s decision to phase out internal combustion engines from 2035, however called for policy addressing the impacts of climate change to not be used to perpetuate inequality. The ACT Government’s current Strategy on zero-emissions vehicles (ZEV) is failing to support people on low incomes to access affordable and climate friendly transport and energy solutions. Resourcing going towards greater ZEV uptake should instead be prioritised to support those who will be most impacted being left behind in the transition to net zero and need it most.
